Research Performance Reporting

Research performance analysis involves the sourcing and interpretation of sector-wide metrics to enable institutional benchmarking and evaluation of trends. The team draws on a range of data and metrics, including internally and externally sourced data, to inform strategic planning.

External Reporting

The Research Performance Team is responsible for assisting with the data collection, management and reporting for:

ERA is an initiative of the Federal Government to evaluate the quality of research undertaken by Australian higher education institutions. ERA is administered by the Australian Research Council (ARC). There have been four ERA rounds, in 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2018. Future rounds are being considered in the context of the Government’s response to the Australian Universities Accord. The ARC’s ERA website will be updated when information about the new Research Evaluation Framework is available.

Internal Reporting

Research performance is reported at the University, Faculty and School organisational levels and includes Research Centres and Institutes. This information is used to inform strategic planning and decision making across the University. The metrics and analysis provides insights to enable organisational units to better understand and enhance their research performance.

Research Performance reporting includes data related to research grant applications and awards, schemes, funders, collaborators, research outputs (traditional and non-traditional), research integrity, HDR student load, enrolments, completions, research impact, and research academic staff FTE. Reporting also incorporates data related to HERDC income and benchmarking against comparator cohort institutions.

The Research Performance team also provides capacity reporting to support the University’s Research Strategy (REEP).

Scheduled Reporting

The Research Performance team provides regular, scheduled reporting to the University Council, Academic Board, Research Committee and to the Executive.

Customised Reporting

Customised research performance reports (publications, research income and HDR student data) may be requested by contacting: research-performance@une.edu.au outlining your data requirements, the associated reporting period, and the preferred delivery date of the report. Please note that there is a five working day minimum notice period for ad hoc customised reporting. The team is working to develop self-serve dashboards on the Power BI Platform to support stakeholders in accessing their data, without the need to request static reports.
