Annual Review

If you do not have a milestone during a twelve (12) month period, you will be required to complete an Annual Review. Annual Reviews are used to monitor and evaluate the progress of each candidate, intended research and future direction, and to promote a timely completion.

If you have submitted your thesis for examination, you are not required to complete an Annual Review.

The Graduate Research School will advise you and your Principal Supervisor in writing no less than two (2) weeks prior to the review being available in the University system. The notification will contain information about the review and the closing date.

Annual Reviews are comprised of three sections:

  • Section A - Candidate’s Report: This is a confidential report completed by the candidate. The report is not shared with the candidate’s supervisors.
  • Section B - Supervisor’s Report: This is a confidential report completed by the Principal Supervisor. The report is not shared with the candidate or supervision panel.
  • Section C - Combined Report: This report will be completed by both the candidate and Principal Supervisor.

Outcomes for Annual Reviews are the same for Milestones 1-3:

  • Continuation of Candidature; or
  • Review of Candidature
