What is iThenticate?

iThenticate is an online similarity checker that compares text in an uploaded document (such as your Research Proposal or Thesis) with text from a database of scholarly content and webpages.

The iThenticate Similarity Report identifies problematic referencing, such as missing quotation marks, missing citations, and work that is neither cited nor quoted. It also flags academic integrity concerns such as plagiarism.

What are the benefits of iThenticate?

By checking your work in iThenticate prior to submitting for review or publication, you can:

  • ensure that your work is void of inadvertent plagiarism or AI-generated content
  • avoid copyright infringement
  • ensure correct referencing and acknowledgment of sources has been used
  • ensure high levels of originality
  • ensure quality assurance and research integrity throughout your candidature.
