People and Culture Policy Review Project

UNE is launching a project to review and modernise all People and Culture-related policies. We encourage all staff to participate and provide input to shape a clearer, more consistent policy environment.

Project Goals
The aim of this initiative is to ensure all P&C policies are:
  • Current: Fully up to date with the latest legislation and the Enterprise Agreement(s).
  • Aligned: Consistent in language and application across the entire policy framework.
  • Clear: Written in easy-to-understand language.

This pilot project is a collaboration between the P&C team and the Governance Directorate. The Vice-Chancellor has established a Steering Committee to oversee the review, which will set the format for similar policy review projects across the University.

Priorities

To ensure an efficient and targeted review, the Steering Committee and Project Team have prioritised P&C policies into five categories:

  1. Employment
  2. Conduct
  3. Work Health and Safety
  4. Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
  5. Talent Acquisition
How You Can Have Your Say
Consultation will occur by category, not individual policy, and will occur in two phases for each group: Phase 1 will seek feedback on the current policy situation, and Phase 2 will seek input on new policy drafts. Staff input will be invited:
  • Direct Contact: Key stakeholders and the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) will be consulted directly.
  • General Staff Input: This newsletter will provide links to a detailed consultation paper (including guiding questions) for each category, along with instructions on how to submit your feedback as well as the usual process for policy reviews via Governance.
Consultation on the Employment category (Phase 1) is planned to begin in late November 2025.

Information about how to have your say will be provided on this website.
