Wright College Scholarships

The Wright College Scholarship was originally funded by the Wright College Association and the Martlet Foundation and is currently supported by gifts and donations from Wright College alumni and friends.

Wright College has a history of supporting students and their families who find it financially difficult to get to university.  After the closure of the historical Wright College in 1996, the funds that were available were deposited into an account to fund a scholarship for those from rural and remote regions.  Since that time, the Wright College Scholarship has been offered yearly to students in their first year of study.  Many times, the recipient has been someone who was the first in their family to get the chance to study at this level.

In 2022, the SCR found the funds to offer a second scholarship, known as the Wright Honours Scholarship.  This award is designed to encourage the pursuit of excellence in learning and research at the college.  We want to develop a culture of passion for knowledge and study that sets Wright students on a career path that will be rewarding and contribute to the Australian community.

We are asking all alumni to consider bequeathing or donating to this scholarship fund so that we can keep the Wright College spirit alive.

I will begin by saying thank you to the donors of the Wright College Scholarship, yet the two simple words do not reflect the true depth of my gratitude. The scholarship afforded me the opportunity to go to university. It alleviated financial pressures and gifted me with precious time to focus on my studies and achieve the results that I desired. It went beyond finances for me however it represented change and hope for a better life through the ever-giving gift of education.

Rachel Minnican, 2014 Wright College Scholarship recipient
