Gender-based Violence Training

Overview

Respect Matters, the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Training Program is a mandatory learning requirement for all UNE staff and students.

All staff (ongoing, fixed term and casual), as well as students are required to complete this training under the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-Based Violence Act 2025 (Cth).

The training further aligns with our Values and the UNE Strategic Plan’s Foundational Principle 2 for UNE to be safe for all learners.

The program is a self-paced online course in MyLearn, staff and students need to complete all modules and quizzes to receive a completion badge.

The University licensed and customised this training from Epigeum, a reputable online learning provider of SAGE Publishing.

Who must complete this training?

All Staff are required to complete this training which includes all ongoing, fixed term and casual staff.

All students are required to complete this training.

  • Build awareness of gender-based violence in higher education settings
  • Support prevention and early intervention
  • Clarify reporting pathways and responsibilities
  • Strengthen UNE’s Safe Communities framework
