This clarification of the admission requirements, will avoid any issues of students being able to use their initial method of application to UNE as the basis for admission, when their latest studies are not meeting the admission requirements. From 2018, all initial teacher education students must pass the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students prior to their final professional placement; students must also pass a Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) during the final professional experience placement. | Note unit title changes Candidates under pre-2018 rules may complete under their current rules, (or apply to transfer) although they will be required to complete a Teaching Performance Assessment in their final Professional Experience Placement as per the most recent advice from the accrediting body. Candidates under 2017 course rules should transfer to 2018 course rules. Candidates under pre-2017 course rules should remain in their current course rules and complete the embedded professional experience and the TPA in EDCX302. Only those candidates in pre-2017 course rules who have not yet completed any professional experience components or EDSP300 should transfer to the 2018 course rules. Candidates under previous rules may take Listed Units added for 2018 rules. The School will contact all currently enrolled students to advise of the changes for 2018 and the retrospective nature of the Teaching Performance Assessment. Candidates will need to be advised on a case-by-case basis. |

| Current students may continue under current course rules or apply to transfer to the 2016 rules subject to meeting admission requirements. Current students under current rules will be required to pass BOSTES-mandated Literacy and Numeracy tests (“GTIL 1.2”) from 2016 prior to attempting their final Professional Experience placement. The literacy and numeracy test requirements from 2016 apply to all students in ITE courses regardless of commencement date. Upon advice from BOSTES, current students under current rules who have already completed their professional experience placements will be advised of whether or not they are required to also pass BOSTES-mandated Literacy and Numeracy tests prior to graduating.
