Implications for current Bachelor of Education (Primary) students

  • The Bachelor of Education (Primary) is no longer offered.  A suggested alternative course is the Bachelor of Education (K-6 Teaching).
  • From 2018, all initial teacher education students must pass the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students prior to their final professional placement; students must also pass a Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) during the final professional experience placement.

The Bachelor of Education (Primary) has been reviewed in accordance with NSW Institute of Teachers requirements and the revised course will commence in 2010. Please check the following transition arrangements for the On-Campus Strand as follows:

  • If you commenced your candidature in or before Semester 1 2006 you must complete the course under the pre-2010 rules by 31 December 2010.
  • If you commenced your candidature in or before Semester 1 2007 you must complete the course under the pre-2010 rules by 31 December 2011.
  • If you commenced your candidature in or before Semester 1 2008 you must complete the course under the pre-2010 rules by 31 December 2012.
  • If you commenced your candidature in or before Semester 1 2009 you must complete the course under the pre-2010 rules by 31 December 2013.

If you do not complete by the nominated date you will be required to transfer to the new course rules effective from the commencement of the next academic year.
