Work Integrated Learning & Placement Requirements Practical, Clinical or Work Experience and Professional Placements sections have been updated to reflect current accreditation requirements and to make the placement requirements more explicit. Admission Part-time Trimester 3 offering added. Program of Study Changes have been made throughout the course where references were made to the Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) which has been changed to the Graduate Teaching Performance Assessment in 2021. Admission Rules - Transferring students A clarification of admission rules relating to students transferring from one award to another has been added. This clarification of the admission requirements, will avoid any issues of students being able to use their initial method of application to UNE as the basis for admission, when their latest studies are not meeting the admission requirements. Progression Requirements & Exit Pathways Students unable to pass the mandatory requirements of LANTITE clauses have been added to all ITE awards for 2021 to indicate that students unable to pass LANTITE will be transferred to a non-teaching award. From 2018, all initial teacher education students must pass the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students prior to their final professional placement; this must be passed by all Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood and Primary) students in Rules (a) to (e). All students must pass a Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) during the final professional experience placement.

Students under previous rules may apply to transfer to 2018 rules where they will not be disadvantaged by this. It should be noted that the AITSL requirements regarding completion of a Teaching Performance Assessment is to be applied retrospectively to all initial teacher education students. Students transferring to 2018 rules who have completed EDSP323 could be permitted to count this as a variation to the normal program of study, however would be required to complete the final placement unit EDSP411 Educating Students in Inclusive Environments: PrEx 35 days in place of 2018 rules’ EDSP410 Educating Students in Inclusive Environments: PrEx 30 days, to meet the total number of days of professional experience in a primary setting required. Continuing students wishing to transfer to 2018 rules should seek advice to ensure they will not be disadvantaged by transferring. |

Current students may complete under their current course rules as ACECQA will recognise the qualification up until the final date for candidates under current rules to complete (2024 for those students admitted under 2014 rules). Consequently, students under 2014 rules or earlier are not encouraged to transfer as it would not be advantageous. The only exception will be any students who are unable to meet course requirements by the end of their period of candidature. These will then have to be assessed on an individual basis. |
