Summary of Changes for 2009 | Implications for current Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching students |
|---|---|
The structure of the Bachelor of Arts component has been modified to explicitly permit three curriculum areas to be undertaken (although not all combinations will be possible). History has been separated into Ancient History and Modern History; Modern Languages is now referred to as Languages and Society and Culture has been broadened. The units available in the curriculum areas are largely the same. The structure of the Bachelor of Teaching component has changed more extensively and comprises: Core Units: 48 credit points (this has increased from 30 credit points) including 60 days of professional experience:
Assessment in all of the units offered in the Bachelor of Teaching component has been adjusted to not more than 4,000 words or equivalent to accommodate the professional experience component of the course. Consequently the professional experience units are 0 credit point units. Curriculum Units: 24-36 credit points (depending upon a candidate's number of designated teaching areas). There has been no change to the curriculum units. Elective Units: 12-24 credit points (depending upon a candidature's number of designated teaching areas). There have been unit code and/or title changes to units in both the Bachelor of Arts component and the Bachelor of Teaching component. The following Bachelor of Teaching units have had code and/or title changes:
The following units are no longer offered in the Bachelor of Teaching component:
| The Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Teaching has been reviewed in accordance with NSW Institute of Teachers requirements and the revised course will commence in 2009. Please check the following transition arrangements:
If you do not complete by the nominated date you will be transferred to the new course rules effective from the commencement of the next academic year. Notwithstanding the above transition arrangements, all students (except those who expect to complete by 31 December 2009, irrespective of when you commenced your candidature) are strongly recommended to transfer to the 2009 course rules. You will need to complete and submit a Move to Latest Course Rules form to facilitate this change. You will receive advanced standing for everything you have successfully completed subject to course rules. Note unit code and/or title changes. Students who have already successfully completed units that are no longer offered will be credited towards their course. |
