Welcome to Duval College

Duval College provides students with a home away from home with the addition of academic assistance as well as life experiences which will further shape their personal development. College life brings together students from various backgrounds who are studying a mix of disciplines and degrees. In addition, the college experience offers a large number of social, cultural, and sporting activities.

The Duval Kayaking Club has an annual paddling event to raise money for the Bone Marrow Transplant Foundation and is a great team bonding exercise. Over 50 residents get involved each year, with half of them paddling and the other half electing to be land crew in support of those that do the paddling! Our dedicated Senior Common Room Senior Members work towards helping residents be a ‘cut above the rest’ through programs such as the Big Idea debate, CV writing skills and other professional development initiatives.

Duval places a high priority on providing residents with a healthy balance between academic, cultural, sporting and social activities. An extensive academic peer mentoring system is provided within College, giving much support especially to new residents. Social activities include formal dinners, fundraisers, the annual college ball, pub nights, outdoor cinema nights, and many other themed events. Many sporting teams play in weekly inter-college competitions, and social games are encouraged within College. Another inter-college competition is the Sir Frank Kitto Competition which provides a host of exciting activities such as theatre sports, debating, public speaking, and small music ensemble performances.
