The University of New England (UNE) is helping the region's employers fill critical skills gaps by hosting Australia's largest student-run agricultural careers fair at the Armidale campus on Thursday 16 July.

Organised by the UNE Farming Futures student committee, the annual event will connect students and recent graduates with key leaders in the industry.

"The opportunities within the industry are vast, and sometimes the most difficult part of being a student is not knowing exactly which path to take at the end of your university journey,” says UNE Agriculture and Business student, Audrey McPherson, who is this year’s Farming Futures Chairperson.

"This Careers Fair allows our students to get to know the region's employers on a personal level, which opens those doors and provides them with the peace of mind that there are plenty of jobs out there.

"In past years we've had so many students go on to develop successful careers in the industry directly as a result of this Careers Fair, and this year will be no different."

Another exciting facet of the event is the Industry Dinner held in the evening, where students will get the opportunity to mingle and network with industry leaders, emerging professionals and fellow students.

The night will feature guest speakers, including the voice behind the Farms Advice podcast, Jack Crewswell, a charity auction, and live entertainment.

"Guided by this year's theme, 'Bound By The Land', the evening celebrates the shared passion, resilience and community that unite Australian agriculture, and provides our students with those valuable networking opportunities that are so important within this industry.

"We are also so excited to be supporting the Aussie Helpers charity through our famous auction."

The Careers Fair is open to the whole community and will run from 9am – 2pm at Lazenby Hall, UNE, Thursday 16 July, 2026.
