After growing up in Ilford, NSW, on her family's sheep and cattle grazing property, UNE Bachelor of Agriculture student, Lily Moore knew agriculture was something she wanted to continue to be immersed in after she finished school.

"I chose to study ag at UNE as it allows me to enjoy a rural lifestyle while gaining a high quality education that connects directly to the agricultural industry," she says.

"UNE's strong reputation in agriculture and the welcoming community atmosphere made it the perfect place to continue developing my passion for the industry."

Highlights of her degree so far have included meeting people from all different backgrounds who share the same passion for agriculture, as well as the hands on experiences she's gained.

UNE's strong reputation in agriculture and the welcoming community atmosphere made it the perfect place to continue developing my passion for the industry.

"The practicals and lectures have brought new perspectives which can be implemented at home."

The supportive environment has been another positive aspect of her UNE experience so far.

"Everyone wants to see you do well," she says.

"The flexibility of study and access to practical learning have made it easy to stay engaged and enjoy what I’m studying. Living at Robb college has also been a huge part of the experience.

"The college community is really supportive and there’s always something happening which makes it easy to meet people and feel at home. I’ve made great friends and had so many opportunities to get involved in events and activities."

The academic opportunities have been another highlight for Lily.

"I received the Wilmot Residential Scholarship, which has allowed me to focus on my studies and enjoy uni life.

"I've worked hard to stay organised, which has helped to balance everything and ensure I can participate in other agricultural events."

As for her top advice for other students, Lily has one thing to say:

"Get involved and make the most of every opportunity. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or reach out for help when you need it."
