Access to the UNE Armidale Campus will remain restricted until Sunday August 10 inclusive due to the ongoing cleanup work and dangerously damaged trees following the extreme weather over the weekend.
On Monday 11 August there will be access to all buildings.
Some carparks will remain closed so please park in the nearest open carpark.
Where clearance work is continuing, spaces will be cordoned off with red and white tape. Safe walking routes around campus will be signposted and those deemed still unsafe or not assessed will be blocked and appropriately sign posted. Please keep to pathways when walking to and from buildings. Security staff will be moving around the closed zones to remind people of access routes.
Thank you for your patience as UNE teams work hard to clear debris and assess the campus to ensure everyone’s safety.
All scheduled on-campus teaching and intensive schools will proceed as timetabled – details of the access arrangements are included below.
- Yarm Gwanga is open.
- SportUNE remains open for students and staff. Showers and laundry facilities are available for staff and students who are without power. Laundry facilities are also available at the Colleges – contact the Colleges team on 02 6773 2099 to make arrangements.
- Staff and students accessing the campus for intensives and teaching activities (through to Sunday 10 August 2025) must park in the Eastern carpark (details below).
- Refer to this map which shows the Eastern car park and the route of the shuttle bus.
- Please avoid walking through or around campus due to the presence of dangerous trees and the operation of heavy plant equipment.
- The Graduate Research School will be writing to HDR students shortly.
Campus access arrangements until Sunday, 10 August (inclusive):
All scheduled on-campus teaching and intensive schools will proceed as timetabled – details of the access arrangements are included below.
We confirm that all scheduled Armidale on-campus teaching activities will take place unless you have been advised by your unit coordinator that there will be alternative arrangements. The library and other facilities will be closed and there will be no access to campus except for these scheduled teaching activities.
Access to the campus for students and staff will be as follows:
- For students not staying in the Colleges, the only access to the campus teaching locations will via the Eastern Carpark on Clarks Road (map)
- Students and staff with classes at SportUNE can proceed directly to SportUNE.
- A park and ride shuttle will run from the Eastern Carpark to designated stops near scheduled teaching locations from 7:20 to 6pm until Friday 8 August 2025. This will continue over the weekend.

- For students staying in the Colleges, the shuttle bus will stop at Mary White College and outside Austin Page College. You should board and disembark the shuttle service at your closest designated stop.
- Please refrain from driving or walking to the UNE Campus so that you stay safe.
- The bus will stop outside Mary White College, students are asked to utilise the Shuttle service and not walk across Campus.
- Field trips scheduled to leave from UNE will leave from the Eastern carpark at the time previously advised by Unit Coordinators
- College Offices are operating and currently have some capacity for additional bookings. For bookings and enquiries, call 02 6773 3370 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. For after-hours assistance, please call Safety and Security on 02 6773 2099.
- Yarm Gwanga is open and operating as per usual and the road and carpark with be open for access to Yarm.
Please leave plenty of time before your classes as there are limited spaces on each shuttle. If you have accessibility needs, please contact the EBE help desk on 02 6773 2065 for alternative arrangements.
Because of the ongoing clean up work, access to other parts of campus (including to the cafes) will not be possible. UNE Life will provide limited catering at each teaching location. Please bring your own food and drink if possible.

Students affected by the extreme weather
We understand that some students were scheduled to attend intensives on the Armidale campus this week and have either been delayed or continue to be unable to travel either due to Armidale access, or events local to you. Please be assured that the University is here to work with you regarding options for your studies to ensure that you are not negatively impacted by circumstances outside of your control.
Please continue to follow local guidance regarding travel. Your safety and wellbeing are our top priority.
