It’s easy (and understandable) to become trapped in negative thinking at times like this – so many of us stuck at home, isolated, and all of us unsure of the future. But the smallest action, daily ritual or mantra can be a perfect and priceless antidote
We’re asking members of our UNE community to share with us what is bringing them joy and hope.
We’ve previously revealed Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science Dr Mary McMillan’s passion for needlework and embroidery. During lockdown, she found a way to share the love.
Dr Mary McMillan has been creating greeting cards as a 'stay sane' activity during lockdowns.
“One of my ‘stay sane in lockdown’ hobbies has been stitching greeting cards that I can send to friends or drop in a mailbox during my government-approved daily exercise,” says Mary.
“I’ve had trouble concentrating on big projects, so these cards are great because I can do one or sometimes two in an evening. I think I have done about 12 different designs so far.
“They keep me busy, and give me (and the recipients, I hope!) a bit of a laugh – after all, who doesn’t love a good pun?"
