Calling for Expressions of Interest

The Acting Chair of the Teaching and Learning Committee, Professor William Billingsley, and the Chair of Academic Board, Professor Adrian Walsh, are calling for expressions of interest from eligible academics from the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education (HASSE), Faculty of Medicine and Health (M&H) Faculty of Science, Agriculture, Business and Law (SABL), who wish to be considered for appointment as one of the two Level D or E Faculty Academic Staff Members on the Committee

The Teaching and Learning Committee is a Committee of Academic Board and its role is to oversee and report to the Academic Board on the academic governance of teaching and learning at the University.

As per the Terms of Reference, these appointments will be made after an expression of interest process and with due consideration of School representation. The HASSE and M&H appointments will be made by the Acting Chair of Teaching and Learning Committee in consultation with the relevant Executive Dean (or nominee). Please note, the SABL appointment will be made by the Chair of Academic Board in consultation with the relevant Executive Dean (or nominee).

Appointments are for a period of two (2) years:

Eligibility

Following external legal requirements, the Standing Orders – Academic Board and Committees, and the Teaching and Learning Committee Terms of Reference, to be eligible for appointment as a Faculty academic staff member, staff need to:

1. be a current academic staff member within the Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education (HASSE) or Faculty of Medicine and Health (M&H) or Faculty of Science, Agriculture, Business and Law (SABL) at the requisite Level (i.e. D/E);
2. preferably be employed on a continuing basis or on a fixed-term basis with sufficient service remaining to fulfil their period of office (2 years);
3. discuss their nomination with their supervisor. If appointed, they must confirm their supervisor's support before accepting the role; and
4. be willing to make a declaration that they are a fit and proper person under the TEQSA Act and ESOS Act.
