Calling for Expressions of Interest - DEC

Education Enterprise Directorate Education Committee

The Chair of the Education Enterprise Directorate Education Committee (DEC) is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from students currently enrolled in either a Foundation Program or Graduate Professional Practice cognate who wish to be considered for appointment as a Student Member on the DEC.

EOI must be received by 5 pm AEDT, Monday 26 October 2026.

About the Directorate Education Committee

The DEC’s objectives are to:

  1. approve or make recommendations relating to academic governance of the Directorate’s courses and units;
  2. ensure compliance of Directorate's courses and units with legislative, regulatory and policy requirements, including the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021 and the Australian Qualifications Framework;
  3. provide quality assurance of the Directorate's curriculum through consideration of course and unit monitoring and review; and
  4. provide advice on matters relating to the Directorate’s teaching and learning.

As per the Terms of Reference, the appointments will be made by the DEC Chair in consultation with the Executive Principal Education Futures (or delegate). This appointment is dependent on the availability of a suitable student. The term of office of a Student Member is 1 year, commencing immediately following appointment.

Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment as a Student Member, students must be currently admitted to or enrolled in a UNE course of study, with sufficient time remaining to fulfil a one-year period of office.

Interested students are encouraged to consider whether their study arrangements allow time to participate in the Committee - you will need to make time to prepare for, attend and participate in meetings which occur monthly and usually run for 1-2 hours.

Students may only submit an EOI to join the Directorate Education Committee if they are enrolled in either the Foundation Program or Graduate Professional Practice cognate.
