Unit information
Living environments have changed over time. More people now live in highly developed urban areas than ever before.
In this unit you will look at the nature of life in the contemporary large city. You will focus on how individuals cope with city living, social and political change within Australian cities, and economic change, particularly as this relates to the global economy.
This unit will help you develop your research, critical thinking and report writing skills.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate coherent theoretical knowledge of the nature of life in the contemporary large Australian city;
- independently examine and evaluate how large Australian cities are changing;
- critically analyse the way in which social, economic and political changes interact to produce geographical variations in human well-being; and
- apply information literacy, critical thinking and report writing skills; and capacity for continuing engagement in the field, that model and contribute to life-long application in a career.
