Unit information
Techniques in Zoology offers you a wide range of tailored practical experiences that deliver field- or lab-based methods training in modules specific to particular groups of taxa or specific kinds of methods that enhance the field skills of the zoologist.
The unit is made up of modules selectable from a list available from the unit coordinator at the start of each calendar year. You can select modules according to your interests to build six credit points of zoological methods into your program of study.

Some modules will have a mandatory face to face component therefore students should be mindful of this when choosing specific modules.
The School of Environmental and Rural Science considers all practical/laboratory/tutorial activities as essential to student learning. Attendance and participation in all practical/laboratory/tutorial classes (sessions) is mandatory - exemptions will not be granted without supporting evidence.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate advanced understanding and practical skills in a sub-branch of zoology; and
- demonstrate the ability to communicate science in written or oral forms.
