Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate broad knowledge of the curriculum documents pertaining to Senior Drama and an understanding of the content relevant to the NSW Stage 6 Drama Syllabus and its articulation to Year 12 syllabus (GTSD 2.1.1, 2.3.1);
2. demonstrate a coherent level of understanding of how students learn in drama and a knowledge of pedagogies relevant to Senior Drama (GTSD 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 3.1.1);
3. apply knowledge and skills in creating an effective learning environment, and in using a range of teaching strategies and resources appropriate to Stage 6 Drama (GTSD 1.3.1, 2.6.1, 3.2.1, 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 3.5.1);
4. demonstrate a practical understanding of the processes involved in effective curriculum development in relation to planning, programming, assessment, reporting, and evaluation, relevant to implementation of Senior Drama, to meet the diverse needs of learners in accordance with mandatory curriculum documents (GTSD 1.4.1, 1.5.1,2.2.1, 2.3.1, 2.5.1, 2.6.1, 3.1.1, 3.2.1, 5.1.1, 5.2.1, 5.3.1, 5.4.1, 5.5.1); and
5. apply theoretical and conceptual knowledge to understand the place of drama within the school and the wider community, and the contribution that drama makes to students’ personal, social and intellectual development (GTSD 1.1.1, 2.4.1).
