Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate broad knowledge of the curriculum documents pertaining to Junior Drama and an understanding of the content relevant to the NSW Years 7–10 Syllabus and its articulation to Year 12 syllabus, the Life Skills curriculum and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives (GTSD 1.6.1, 2.1.1, 2.3.1, 2.4.1, 5.1.1);
2. demonstrate a coherent level of understanding of how students learn in drama and a knowledge of models of pedagogies relevant to Junior Drama (GTSD 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 2.1.1, 2.5.1);
3. apply knowledge and skills in creating a safe and effective learning environment, and in using a range of teaching strategies and resources appropriate to Years 7–10 Drama (GTSD 1.3.1, 1.5.1, 2.6.1, 3.1.1, 3.2.1, 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 3.5.1, 4.1.1, 4.4.1);
4. demonstrate a practical understanding of the processes involved in effective curriculum development in relation to planning, programming, assessment, reporting, and evaluation, relevant to implementation of Junior Drama that addresses physical, social, & intellectual development and the diverse needs of learners in accordance with mandatory curriculum documents (GTSD 1.1.1, 1.2.1, 1.3.1, 1.4.1, 1.5.1, 1.6.1, 2.2.1, 2.3.1, 3.1.1, 3.2.1, 3.6.1, 5.2.1); and
5. apply theoretical and conceptual knowledge to understand place of drama within the school and the wider community, and the contribution that drama makes to students' personal, social and intellectual development (GTSD 1.1.1, 2.1.1).
