Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate knowledge of, and the ability to apply, models of pedagogy to develop a range of strategies for teaching and assessing Agricultural Technology, Years 7–10, including the Life Skills component (GTSD 1.6.1, 2.1.1, 2.5.1, 3.1,1, 3.3.1, 3.5.1);
2. demonstrate the ability to apply understandings of the aims, outcomes, content and requirements of the Agricultural Technology, Years 7–10 Syllabus, to lessons, lesson sequences and programmes (GTSD 2.2.1, 2.3.1, 3.2.1);
3. demonstrate knowledge of the rationale for professional learning and sources to support curriculum development by critically selecting appropriate resources and presenting the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of learners in Agricultural Technology, Years 7–10 (GTSD 1.2.1, 1.3.1, 1.4.1, 1.5.1, 2.6.1, 3.1.1, 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 6.2.1, 6.4.1);
4. select appropriate assessment for learning strategies and to use the results for student feedback and reporting as well as lesson and programme evaluations (GTSD 2.3.1, 3.1.1, 5.1.1); and
5. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of management practices for laboratory and school farm activities in Agricultural Technology, Years 7–10, including safety and risk management, the role of external professional and community representatives in enhancing professional knowledge and practice, ethical practice and sustainability, budgeting, selecting, storing, maintaining and replacing materials and equipment (GTSD 4.4.1, 7.4.1).
