Unit information
Extend your Italian language skills and become one of the millions of people worldwide who speak Italian for business or in their daily lives.
This unit is the continuation of the advanced language strand. It aims to bring you to a point where you can more competently read and understand Italian, and more accurately write and speak in Italian. It involves a partial revision and practice of grammar points introduced in previous language units, through the reading and appreciation of texts taken from contemporary Italian media.
You will further develop your knowledge of Italian culture through the use of advanced texts for language practice dealing with various aspects of Italian history, arts and lifestyle.

Notes
Students with substantial knowledge of Italian but with no formal University qualification and students who completed their language study more than five years prior to enrolment should contact the discipline convenor to request a placement test.
First language (Italian) speakers may not enrol in Italian language units except when required for (school) teaching accreditation in Australian states and territories.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- further utilise advanced structures and functions of the Italian language;
- demonstrate further understanding of modern Italian language and the use of forms and expressions in colloquial interaction at an advanced level; and
- demonstrate further knowledge of Italian culture through the use of advanced texts for language practice dealing with various aspects of Italian history, arts and lifestyle.
