Unit information
Educators use a range of tools and techniques to assess and evaluate students’ performance in digital learning environments. As digital learning technology advances, teachers need to upgrade their skills in this fast-paced area to allow them to monitor students’ progress in education, training and workplace settings.
In this unit you will explore assessment, evaluation and learning analytics in digital learning contexts. You will examine a range of assessment and evaluation framework along with the issues of validity and reliability.
You will examine the application of learning analytics in digital learning particularly in reference to how learning analytics can be used to support assessment and evaluation practices.
You will also consider the ethical issues associated with assessment, evaluation and learning analytics.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- critically analyse ethical issues associated with assessment, evaluation and learning analytics;
- demonstrate coherent theoretical knowledge in the application of a range of assessment frameworks in education, training or workplace settings;
- demonstrate coherent theoretical knowledge in the application of a range of evaluation frameworks in education, training or workplace settings; and
- make high level judgements in the application of learning analytics in education, training or workplace settings.
