Unit information
This unit is designed for students who have passed the introductory Spanish units or have substantial knowledge of Spanish, equivalent to HSC Spanish Continuers or above.
You will consolidate your written, oral, reading comprehension and communication skills in Spanish, and gain a broad linguistic base for the study of Spanish and Latin American culture, literature and civilisation.

Notes
Students with existing competence in Spanish (including HSC Spanish Beginners) who are unsure of their current level of competence should take a placement test.
First language (Spanish) speakers may not enrol in Spanish language units except when required for (school) teaching accreditation in Australian states and territories.
Students may be able to obtain credit for their prior knowledge of the language under the University Admission Credit and Enrolment Guidelines.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate increasing autonomy in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Spanish language at an intermediate level;
- utilise intermediate structures and functions of the Spanish language, in particular grammatical structures;
- communicate in Spanish with some depth on further selected topics;
- apply extended knowledge of Hispanic cultural and social norms and Hispanic society; and
- use developed cognitive skills to conduct research, and to analyse and to synthesise information when communicating at an intermediate level.
