Digital Literacy and Technologies in Education (EDIT502)

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. apply an advanced understanding of research and critique theoretical concepts into how students learn and the implications for teaching (GTSD 1.2.1);
2. based upon contemporary research analyse, plan, design, implement and evaluate teaching strategies for using Digital Literacy and Technologies to expand curriculum learning opportunities for students including the use of Digital Literacy and Technologies in the provision of timely and appropriate feedback to students about their learning (GTSD 2.6.1, 3.6.1, 5.2.1);
3. apply advanced knowledge of a range of resources, including Digital Literacy and Technologies, that engage students in their learning and support teacher professional learning (GTSD 3.4.1, 6.2.1, 6.4.1);
4. apply an advanced understanding of Digital Literacy and Technologies-based assessment strategies including informal and formal, diagnostic, formative and summative approaches to assess student learning (GTSD 5.1.1);
5. apply an advanced understanding of the role Digital Literacy and Technologies plays in reporting to students and parents/caregivers and in the keeping of accurate and reliable records of student achievement (GTSD 5.5.1, 7.3.1); and
6. apply an advanced understanding of school and legislative requirements including knowledge of the Disability Standards for Education to support the safe, responsible and ethical use of Digital Literacy and Technologies in the maintenance of student well-being and safety (GTSD 1.6.1, 4.4.1, 4.5.1, 7.1.1).
