Unit information
This unit explores philosophical and historical approaches to current and emerging technological upheaval, and its future possibilities. Throughout the unit, you will develop the cognitive skills needed to respond resiliently and ethically to the challenges and opportunities ahead.
You will investigate the concept of the cyborg to deeply understand creative practice at the interface of the human and the machine. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with artificial intelligence to produce a creative work and reflect on the process drawing on insights from scholarship and philosophy. This unit is designed to inspire you across a range of creative disciplines, regardless of skill level.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- engage broadly with theories, concepts, and research to analyse current and evolving trends in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, and their relationship to creativity;
- select and apply specialised skills to collaborate with artificial intelligence to produce a creative output;
- evaluate and analyse in-depth creative practice that collaborates with and/or responds to artificial intelligence applying problems and theories;
- demonstrate broad knowledge of the relationship between legal, social and ethical issues related to emerging technologies and artificial intelligence; and
- apply a coherent understanding of legal, social and ethical issues related to artificial intelligence to inform design choices in the production of a creative output.
