Creative Arts Key Learning Area (EDAE303)

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate knowledge and practical understanding of content relevant to the NSW Creative Arts K–6 Syllabus (GTSD 2.1.1, 2.2.1, 2.3.1);
2. apply knowledge and skills to create an effective learning environment, and use a range of teaching strategies and resources appropriate to K–6 Creative Arts (GTSD 3.1.1, 3.2.1, 3.3.1, 3.4.1, 3.5.1, 5.2.1);
3. demonstrate a practical understanding of the processes involved in effective curriculum development in relation to planning, programming, assessment, reporting, and evaluation, relevant to implementation of Creative Arts, including Australian Aboriginal content (GTSD 2.3.1, 2.4.1, 3.3.1);
4. demonstrate an understanding of the place of the Creative Arts within the school and the wider community, and the contribution the Creative Arts make to students’ personal, social and intellectual development (GTSD 1.1.1, 2.3.1, 4.4.1);
5. demonstrate understanding of how students learn, including students from diverse backgrounds and different abilities, and strategies for using ICT for teaching (GTSD 1.2.1, 1.3.1, 1.5.1, 1.6.1, 2.6.1); and
6. demonstrate knowledge and skills to create a safe and supportive learning environment by including creative arts activities that all students can enjoy and providing clear directions for classroom activities, and to use informal and formal assessment strategies and consistent and comparable judgement of student learning (GTSD 4.1.1, 4.2.1, 5.1.1, 5.3.1).
