Unit information
As a culmination of the Counselling in Practice series, this unit brings together and solidifies the knowledge and skillsets built during your studies in HSCS103 and HSCS203. Through active participation in mandatory intensive schools, you will consolidate the core competencies of counselling practice through skills development, helping you to build the proficiencies needed to thrive in the counselling profession.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate a well-developed understanding of effective communication, self-awareness and critical and reflexive thinking skills in the counselling context;
- describe and apply counselling theory into practice;
- demonstrate knowledge of core counselling competencies including cultural responsiveness; and
- apply counselling microskills in simulated practice situations.
