Extend your knowledge of methods and processes from NEUR335/535 Clinical Neuroscience, with this unit, offering an advanced understanding of the interventions and neuroscience techniques that inform clinical practice with people with behavioural disorders.
Exploring clinical processes drawn from the biofeedback literature, you will evaluate strategies for planning and applying interventions.
This unit requires you to reflect upon the ways in which various applications are used within clinical settings for the treatment of diverse neurological disorders. Focusing on direct current stimulation, trans-cranial stimulation, neurofeedback, EEG feedback, as well as other modalities such as cardiovascular, electromyography, and temperature feedback, you will have the opportunity to learn how to utilise an array of cutting-edge techniques.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- understand how Neuroscience can inform clinical practice with people who have a behavioural disorder;
- be familiar with a range of interventions that are based upon the principles of Neuroscience;
- evaluate the scientific literature underlying evidence supporting Neuroscience techniques in clinical settings;
- evaluate specific Neuroscience techniques and applications that may be relevant to clinical interventions across a range of behavioural disorders; and
- develop and apply a treatment plan for people who will benefit from treatments that are based in Neuroscience.

| Interactive Online Presentation - Assurance Task | Yes | 50% | All offerings | Students will deliver a 10-minute online presentation discussing a biofeedback treatment plan for a hypothetical case study. The plan must be supported by empirical evidence of treatment efficacy. The presentation will be followed by a minimum 10 minutes of questions. The presentation will not be graded. It is mandatory to achieve a minimum of 50% to pass this assessment. Students must pass this assessment to be eligible to pass the unit. |
