Classroom Behaviour Management: PrEx 20 days (EDSP324)

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate, based on relevant theories, concepts and methods, an understanding of how student well-being, mental health, and the different types of supports available to students (e.g., Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, EAL/D, etc) impact on the learning and the management of behaviour (GTSD 1.1.1, 1.4.1, 3.5.1, 4.3.1); 
2. demonstrate coherent knowledge and integrated understanding of theoretical management methodologies, practical strategies and awareness of preventative techniques and procedures (GTSD 1.1.1, 3.5.1, 4.2.1, 4.3.1); 
3. apply independent judgement to evaluate their own teaching and learning classroom management skills through case-based scenarios for realistic learning to better manage challenging scenarios (GTSD 1.1.1, 3.5.1, 4.2.1, 4.3.1); 
4. refer to policy documents, OH&S and Risk Management legislation as they relate to students with a history, or current presentation, of significant behavioural difficulties (GTSD 1.1.1, 3.5.1, 4.3.1); 
5. demonstrate coherent knowledge and integrated understanding of a range of disabilities and syndromes negatively affecting learning and/or social interaction (GTSD 1.1.1, 3.5.1, 4.3.1); and 
6. understand the application of ICT in the classroom and demonstrate competence during professional placement in a school setting (GTSD 2.3.1, 2.6.1, 4.3.1, 5.1.1, 6.3.1, 1.2.1,1.3.1, 3.1.1, 3.3.1, 3.5.1, 4.2.1, 4.3.1, 5.1.1, 5.3.1, 6.1.1).
