Unit information
The world of neuroscience and human behaviour is one of the fastest growing fields in human physiology. A well-rounded understanding of the relationship between brain function and behaviour adds value to roles in many clinical and scientific disciplines.
Studying this unit, you will explore the physiological and anatomical underpinnings of the human brain and nervous system. Applying current knowledge in the field, you will investigate the relationship between brain structure and function to gain a deep understanding of contemporary concepts and principles of neuroscience. This unit also offers opportunities to refine your critical thinking and communication skills.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- exhibit an advanced theoretical and technical knowledge of neuroscience with an in-depth comprehension of the concepts and ideas underlying the anatomy and physiology of the brain and nervous system;
- apply critical thinking and analytic skills to evaluate information regarding the anatomical and physiological underpinnings of the brain and nervous system;
- to transmit knowledge, skills and ideas to others in written formats;
- demonstrate extensive cognitive and technical skills in the field of anatomical and physiological neuroscience;
- demonstrate an extended autonomy and judgement to exhibit a sound knowledge of anatomical and physiological neuroscience; and
- demonstrate self-directed learning in the fields of anatomical and physiological neuroscience.
