Secondary Music ICT (EDAE396)

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate understanding of how ICT can be used effectively for teenagers’ music learning, especially for those from diverse backgrounds and with different musical abilities (GTSD 1.2.1, 1.3.1, 1.5.1);
2. demonstrate the knowledge base for a range of ICT tools and resources appropriate for classroom music teaching, including concepts, structure, and sequences and apply pedagogical strategies for using them effectively (GTSD 2.1.1, 2.3.1, 2.6.1);
3. demonstrate knowledge and skills for using a range of ICT tools and resources for effective music teaching in secondary classrooms by providing different ways of teaching and learning music using technology (GTSD 3.1.1, 3.2.1, 3.3.1, 3.4.1);
4. demonstrate understanding of the ethical use of ICT tools and resources for teaching classroom music, including YouTube videos, copyright rules for the internet-downloadable resources, and web music resources (GTSD 4.1.1, 4.2.1, 4.3.1, 4.5.1); and
5. demonstrate pedagogical skills and knowledge for using informal and formal assessment strategies for music tasks using ICT and applying consistent and comparable judgement for student music learning using ICT (GTSD 5.1.1, 5.3.1).
