Secondary English Curriculum 3: Specialist Senior Studies (EDEE332)

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

1. interpret, evaluate and apply the aims, objectives, outcomes, content, course structure, English prescriptions and assessment and reporting materials of the NSW Education Standards Authority: English Stage 6 syllabuses along with related curriculum documents, support materials and policies with a particular focus on the Higher School Certificate (GTSD 2.1.1);
2. demonstrate their ability to critically evaluate research in the field of English education and then draw upon it to inform and support programming and pedagogical choices (GTSD 1.2.1, 2.1.1);
3. demonstrate their ability to engage with different approaches to the study of texts in order to meet the NSW Education Standards Authority: English Stage 6 syllabus course structure, content and prescriptions: modules, electives and text requirements (GTSD 2.1.1);
4. implement a broad cross-section of theoretical and practical skills, content knowledge and teaching strategies appropriate for designing learning sequences, teaching resources and assessment (GTSD 2.1.1, 2.2.1, 2.3.1, 3.2.1, 3.3.1); and
5. plan and incorporate a range of assessment strategies into classwork and programs consistent with Record of School Achievement (RoSA) and Higher School Certificate requirements, linking outcomes, learning activities and assessment, to provide assessment data to inform student learning and report as required (GTSD (2.1.1, 2.3.1, 5.1.1).
