An honours degree equips you with advanced skills in critical analysis, independent thought, and communication that will help you stand out in your profession.
Professional Practice 1 is one of four units that make up the coursework component of the fourth-year psychology program. This unit is worth 12.5% of your overall Psychology Honours grade.
Most of your learning in this unit will be online with a mandatory intensive school including lectures, seminars, and activities associated with key topic areas.
You will gain knowledge of testing and assessment appropriate to psychological practice. This includes knowledge of psychometric theory and principles of the construction, cultural considerations and implementation of some widely used standardised psychological test instruments.

This is one of four units that make up the coursework component of UNE's APAC-accredited Psychology Honours program and is worth 12.5% of the overall Honours grade.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate basic assessment strategies and understanding of the role of psychological testing and assessment in evidence-based practice across a range of professional settings and cultural contexts;
- demonstrate understanding of some of the more widely used standardised psychological tests, including principles of their construction, psychometric properties, implementation, and cultural and developmental considerations;
- demonstrate knowledge of assessment procedures, including brief screening tools, in the identification of the most common psychological disorders; and
- evaluate psychometric properties of psychological assessment.
