Unit information

As Australia’s population ages and health care needs become more complex, your ability to understand the many factors that impact care delivery for older people is important in your role as a nurse.
Through case-based scenarios, you will explore the registered nurses’ roles and responsibilities in healthcare settings for the elderly. This unit will consolidate your knowledge and understanding of better health outcomes framed by legal, ethical, and policy influences that impact care for older people.
Reflecting on the role of the registered nurse within residential and community aged care in Australia, you will draw on psychosocial perspectives of ageing, theoretical frameworks and evidence-based practice. A regional, national and global lens will be applied to understand how aged care nursing practice is continually evolving.
