Unit information
Organisations today are shaped by increasing diversity, requiring leaders who can foster inclusive, equitable workplaces based on respect. In this unit, you will build advanced management skills to respond to this complexity. You’ll explore concepts of intersectionality, positionality, diversity, equity and inclusion, and critically evaluate how these forces impact organisations. You’ll also examine the legislative frameworks that underpin diversity and inclusion practices, equipping you to navigate legal responsibilities confidently.
You’ll develop skills in research, communication, and critical reflection to design and assess inclusive management strategies, while investigating real-world challenges related to privilege and marginality at work. Working independently and collaboratively, you will apply inclusive management principles to real-world contexts, building your expertise for professional practice.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate an advanced ability to evaluate and integrate the concepts, theories and principles of intersectionality, positionality, diversity, equity and inclusion;
- use a range of cognitive, communication and research skills to investigate, analyse, synthesise and reflect critically on research related to inclusive management;
- develop and apply critical reflection skills to investigate complex problems and solution building to real world contexts; and
- work independently and/or collaboratively to plan and execute tasks to enhance professional knowledge and skills related to inclusive management practice.

| Invigilated Exam - Assurance Task | Yes | 50% | All offerings | There is a supervised exam during the teaching period in which you are enrolled. The exam will be offered online with supervision via webcam and screen sharing technology. Coordinated by UNE Exams Unit. Students must obtain at least 50% in the examination (and at least 50% overall) to receive a pass or better in the unit. |
