Unit information
Organisational leaders have responsibilities to uphold – toward their organisations, the environment, the community and other stakeholders. This unit will equip you with a strong theoretical and practical sense of responsible management and leadership practice to add value in your role and future proof your career as a leader.
You will engage your creative and critical thinking skills to consider issues confronting the global business environment.
Examining real-world problems from your own experiences and further afield, you will reflect on how you can lead in building more responsible enterprises by addressing those problems through the lens of sustainability, ethics and stakeholder management.

Study at the UNE Sydney Campus is only available to international students admitted to the Bachelor of Business under Rule (e), studying the Analytics and Informatics Major.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate a well-developed knowledge of organisational theory with some depth in understanding responsible leadership processes, and apply this to business-related problems;
- use a range of cognitive and communication skills to identify, evaluate and synthesise relevant information from a range of sources on current frameworks used in the practice of responsible enterprise leadership in order to demonstrate judgement and analytical skills in solving sometimes complex business-related problems;
- work independently and/or collaboratively to plan and execute tasks to enhance professional knowledge and skills; and
- demonstrate the ability to recognise, reflect on, and respond appropriately to a range of ethical, cultural or social issues influencing the practice of business including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Assessments are subject to change up to 8 weeks prior to the start of the teaching period in which you are undertaking the unit.

There will be five forum questions posted by the unit coordinator on fortnightly basis. To pass the unit, you need to participate in at least one of the five forum questions by the due date. | Final Examination - Assurance Task | Yes | 50% | All offerings | There is a supervised exam at the end of the teaching period in which you are enrolled. The exam will be offered online with supervision via webcam and screen sharing technology. Coordinated by UNE Exams Unit. Students must obtain at least 50% in the exam (and at least 50% overall) to receive a pass (or better) in the unit. |
