Explore a range of methods used for human health and biophysiological investigations in this practical and engaging unit and place yourself at the forefront of this rapidly evolving field of study.
By completing an individual research project, you will develop specialised knowledge and advanced skills, which will complement your other studies. You will also strengthen vital project management skills and build on your ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
Through skills-oriented training you also evaluate and adapt methods for real world human health problems in a variety of scenarios, preparing you to work in your field of choice.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate industry-relevant laboratory skills that facilitate the integration of biochemical and physiological systems in a lab based environment to enhance research and diagnostic outcomes;
- demonstrate a high degree of understanding of the ethical and legal constraints of using human subjects in biomedical research;
- apply integrate biochemical and physiological knowledge to design experimental protocols to solve research-based biomedical problems;
- integrate and apply advanced data interpretation techniques to effectively communicate experimental biochemical and physiological data;
- demonstrate an integrated understanding of inter-relationships between biochemistry and physiology that support normal physiological function as well as the perturbations associated disease progression; and
- exercise project management skills including team work and independent work in a research project context.
