Unit information

Rapid change in health care is driven by the constant interplay between healthcare systems – the dynamic structures for funding, governance and service delivery that interact across and within organisations for service provision.
Studying this unit with UNE’s expert health management team, you will learn about the evolution and development of Australian healthcare systems.
We focus on applying theory to real world practice, enhancing your ability to effect strategic and operational decisions in complex situations.
By exploring the theories and a situational understanding of healthcare systems, strategies and their associated processes, you will appraise the models and tools used to evaluate systems in healthcare.
Comparing local and international systems for funding, governance and service delivery, you will also develop and understanding of the mechanisms that influence change and decision-making across and within team, organisational and system boundaries.

Studying online
At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.
We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
