Organisations must constantly adapt and evolve to stay relevant in our competitive and globalised world.
Managers and employees who understand the dynamic and ongoing processes of managing change have an edge in the modern workplace.
Studying this unit will equip you with the skills and knowledge to confidently and effectively manage change at work.
You will explore the theories and concepts of change management, communication and social construction, and investigate themes such as change agency, diagnosis and intervention.
Honing your communication skills, you will examine the context of change and the role of force-field analysis and storytelling in constructing change in complex organisations.
You will learn to build the case for change, examining modes of diagnosis, styles of intervention, and approaches to managing resistance.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate a well-developed knowledge base of the key concepts associated with building the case for change, diagnosis and intervention;
- use a range of cognitive and/or communication skills to identify, evaluate and co-construct relevant viewpoints in order to demonstrate judgement and analytical skills in both managing and leading change efforts and programs;
- work independently and/or collaboratively to plan and execute change programs; and
- demonstrate the ability to recognise, reflect on, and respond appropriately to a range of socio-organisational issues influencing both the process and the practice of managing change and organisational development.
