In our modern world of globalised businesses, managing across cultures has never been more relevant. A culturally diverse workforce can benefit an organisation by bringing varying perspectives to completing tasks and making decisions.
Studying this unit, you will explore the impact of culture on management and hone your awareness of the richness of diversity and plurality across cultures.
You will examine the role of cross-cultural communication, the role of dialogue and how culture influences management practice. In doing so, you will learn to identify and apply the skills, insights and abilities to effectively work and manage across cultures.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the different theoretical approaches to the concept of culture and management, and how to apply these in an increasingly diverse global context;
- demonstrate an advanced and integrated understanding of the concepts, theories and principles in designing, implementing and evaluating cross-cultural communications;
- use a range of cognitive, communication and research skills to investigate, analyse, synthesise and reflect critically on relevant theories, concepts, methodologies and professional decisions relating to inter-cultural communication;
- work independently and/or collaboratively to plan and execute tasks to enhance professional knowledge and skills; and
- demonstrate the ability to recognise, reflect on, and respond appropriately to a range of ethical, cultural or social issues influencing the practice of business.
