Unit information

Macroeconomics is the study of economic interactions in national and international economies. This intermediate unit will equip you with a solid theoretical framework for evaluating these interactions in well-functioning economies to apply in your work or in further academic studies.
Exploring the economic interplay between Australia and the rest of the world, you will gain an overview of the performance of domestic and international economies.
You will examine the linkages between investment and consumption decisions, government taxation and expenditure decisions, and fiscal and monetary policy.
You will analyse the determinants of savings and investment levels, unemployment, inflation and business cycles. You will also investigate the explanations of the balance of payments and exchange rates.

Studying online
At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.
We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
