Unit information

If you are interested in building wealth for personal and business clients, and for yourself, this unit will give you the foundations to achieve that goal.
Studying this unit will equip you with key practical skills in personal and business finance.
You will develop an understanding of financial skills in areas such as risk/return trade-off, direct and indirect investment in securities and property, risk management, superannuation and retirement planning.
You will also gain an understanding of fundamental financial concepts and their application in personal and business contexts.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of key financial concepts in personal and business finance including budgeting, savings, risk/return trade-off, investment products, wealth management, superannuation and retirement planning, and the ability to apply these concepts in the personal and business finance contexts;
- use a range of cognitive and communication skills to identify, evaluate and synthesise relevant information drawn from a range of sources in order to demonstrate judgement, creative thinking and analytical skills in solving personal and business finance problems;
- work independently and/or collaboratively to plan and execute tasks to enhance professional knowledge and skills; and
- demonstrate the ability to recognise, reflect on, and respond appropriately to a range of ethical, social or environmental issues influencing the practice of personal and business finance.
