Unit information

Management is the key to organisational success. For any role, having a sound understanding of management fundamentals will help you to future proof your career and any future aspirations, as well as aid growing any organisation in which you work.
This unit introduces fundamental concepts and theories of management and organisations, including management practices in planning, organising, leading, and controlling functions in for-profit, not-for-profit, and public sector organisations.
As a foundation unit for business and management studies, it will equip you with the theoretical and practical management skills to ensure you’re ready to embrace challenges in the competitive environment.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of and apply management theories and concepts to the contemporary operation of organisations;
- use a range of cognitive and/or communication skills to synthesise relevant nformation drawn from a range of sources to critically examine management practices in organisations;
- work independently and/or collaboratively to assess management challenges and explore appropriate solutions relevant at the local, regional, or global level; and
- demonstrate critical thinking and reflection of the economic, social, cultural, and environmental issues associated with the management of for-profit, not-for-profit, and public sector organisations.
