Biography
William Confalonieri is a three-time Australian CIO of the Year and accomplished digital transformation leader, currently serving as Chief Information and Digital Officer at the University of New England.
With over 20 years' executive experience spanning higher education, banking, health and technology services, he transforms institutional priorities into tangible digital outcomes while equipping organisations to thrive in an AI-driven landscape.
During nearly a decade as Chief Digital and Information Officer at Deakin University, William architected the institution's digital transformation, pioneering enterprise AI implementation and reimagining the student experience.
A sought-after voice on digital futures, William contributes to international conferences, executive education programs, and board-level discussions on university transformation. His leadership has earned recognition including the Computerworld/IDG Premier 100 Global Technology Leader Award and the ACS CXO Disruptor of the Year.
William's governance portfolio includes serving as President and Council Chair of McKinnon Secondary College, Victoria, with board positions at Intersect Australia, VERNet, AU Access Federation and Callista.
He holds master's degrees in Computer Science and Business Administration, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and earned Enterprise Architecture certification from Carnegie Mellon University.
