Biography

Siew completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Polymer Chemistry at the University of Singapore. She then worked as a research engineer at the Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences where she studied the reactivity and catalytic potential of platinum sulfide compounds. This project led to her PhD research in the use of bridging Pt2(µ-S)2 cores to generate organic materials. Siew was awarded a PhD in 2007 from the National University of Singapore. Following her PhD, she was a senior journal publishing associate within the Life Sciences department at Wiley-Blackwell, Oxford UK. Siew then relocated to Australia in 2009 where she undertook casual teaching appointments at the University of Sydney in 2010, and at Monash University in 2013. In 2017, Siew accepted a full-time position at UNE. She has a strong interest in chemical education research and collaboration, in particular the development of online adaptive learning tools that enhance student confidence, engagement and the overall learning experience.
