Prashneel Ravisan Goundar

Biography

Dr Prashneel Ravisan Goundar is a Senior Lecturer and Graduate Research Academic at the University of New England’s Graduate Research School. Originally from the jewel of the South Pacific—Fiji, he moved to Armidale, NSW, after graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in Linguistics from UNE. Prior to this, he spent a decade as a Lecturer at Fiji National University, where he specialised in teaching Academic English and Applied Linguistics. Dr Goundar is also an Adjunct Research Associate at Charles Sturt University, Australia. He is the author of five books and over two dozen peer-reviewed scholarly publications. His forthcoming book, Rite of Passage: Essays to Provoke Thought (Carindale Publishing, Brisbane, Australia), is scheduled for publication in May 2026. In 2025, he was recognised as an Accredited Linguist by the Australian Linguistic Society and awarded Fellowship (FHEA) by Advance HE (UK) in recognition of his contributions to teaching and learning in higher education. His research interests are interdisciplinary, spanning Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, and Educational Linguistics, and he welcomes opportunities to collaborate with academics and to co-supervise Master’s and PhD research projects.
