Biography

Sam Fowler, a proud Dunghutti woman with strong ties to Gumbaynggirr country, is the Director of the Oorala Aboriginal Centre at the University of New England (UNE). She first joined Oorala in 2017 and transitioned into leadership in 2023.

A first-generation university graduate, Sam studied Arts/Law at UNE before building a career in project management, business, and leadership. Returning to Armidale, she brought her expertise to Oorala, strengthening student engagement and community connections.

Committed to empowering Aboriginal students, Sam leads with respect, collaboration, and a passion for education, ensuring Oorala remains a strong support for Indigenous success at UNE.
