Ian Hannam

Biography

Ian Hannam is Adjunct Associate Professor at the Australian Centre for Agriculture and Law, School of Law, University of New England, Armidale, Australia.

He is Chair Emeritus of the Specialist Group for Soil, Desertification and Sustainable Agriculture of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law.

He holds a Dip. Agr (CSU), B.A, Litt.B,  Litt.M (UNE)  and PhD (MacqU).

Ian has consulted with UNEP, UNDP, UN University, UN FAO and ADB) to many governments and environmental institutions around the world on the law and policy of sustainable land management, specializing in legal issues associated with land degradation and dryland agriculture.

He has numerous book and journal publications on national and international environmental law and policy on land degradation and sustainable use of soil.

Ian is an Advisory Editor to the International Yearbook on Soil Law and Policy (Springer) and an Editor of the Special Issue of the Journal of Soil Security on Soil Governance (Elsevier).
